Pet Registration / Permits
All pet owners living in Dallas must register their pets with the City. The owner or harborer of a dog or cat must have the animal vaccinated either annually or tri-annually for rabies, present a certificate of vaccination, and pay an annual registration fee to Dallas Animal Services to obtain a registration tag for the animal.
Registration Fees:
- Unaltered (not spayed/neutered) pets – $30 per pet with a valid Intact Animal Permit. The Intact Animal Permit is $70. Total cost for an intact animal is $100.
- Spayed/neutered pets – $7 each
- If the owner is 65 years of age and older, registration is free for up to 3 altered pets
You may purchase and/or renew your pet’s registration at our offices Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm or by mail. Please bring/mail payment along with a copy of your pet’s current rabies vaccination certificate to: 1818 N. Westmoreland Road, Dallas, Texas 75212.
An Intact Animal Permit may be obtained if the owner complies with the following:
- The dog or cat is registered with Dallas Animal Services;
- The dog or cat has been microchipped;
- The owner is a member of a recognized purebred dog or cat breeding club that maintains and enforces a code of ethics for dog and cat breeding OR completes a Responsible Pet Ownership course offered by the city or otherwise approved by the director.
The cost of an Intact Animal Permit is $70 annually plus the $30 registration fee (per animal).
